Appaloosa Gelding

SH Superstition

his week we are featuring a beautiful 4 year old Appaloosa gelding, SH SUPERSTITION, or Leo for short. Leo stands just over 16.2 hh and is a unique chestnut color with a large white snowcap blanket and 2 high hind socks. Leo is owned by Charity Luck from Perkinsfield and stays at a small barn near Waverly. Charity says she's sure if he was a human he would be a runway model because he is so slender and his legs go on forever!

Leo is a very kind gentle fellow who loves to work, be ridden and learn new things. He shows all-round regionally, but his specially is the hunter classes, where he was 3rd at last year's World Appaloosa Championships in Pre-Green Working Hunter. Leo especially enjoys showing in the Saddle Seat Pleasure offered on the Appy circuit as he gets to go around proudly with his head up and extending out. Leo also likes to show off with pride the lady's native costume dress that his breeders allowed us to use this summer to show at the Canadian National Appaloosa Horse show held in Regina SK. In 2004 Leo's big brother won high point judged events horse, and amateur versatility at this show. This horse loves going to local saddle club shows to show people who still have the appaloosa stereotype in mind that appaloosas can be tall, can be beautiful hunters and do have full manes and tails... that they aren't just little cow ponies like everyone thinks they are! Leo does however have a major dislike...VETS!! Always exciting come vaccination time.

Congratulations to SH SUPERSTITION for being our September 25th, 2006 Horse of the Week!
