Gold Canyon bint Nafaa

Nafaa is an 11 year old purebred Arabian mare who lives at Rocking Chair Ranch, near Orillia in Ontario, Canada. She is owned by Carol McIsaac and we recently featured her other horses, Sonny and Fadji, as our Horse of the Week. Naffa's dam is Nafaa el bene and her sire is Black Fyre. She has grown to be a whopping 16 hh which is large for an Arabian.

Carol says this of her horse:

"Nafaa loves to trail ride and show off for people in the ring. She is extremely fond of cameras and cleverly strikes up wonderful poses. She has many tricks that she enjoys pulling on her horsey friends. Her favourite is to dash wildly out of one pasture to the next as if being eaten (particularly if she has found a treat that she doesn't want to share). The wild dash usually has all the other horses following suit and she then “sneaks” back to the first field and enjoys the treat to herself. She also has a favourite scratching tree where she will lower down so that her back or rump fits into just the right spot. In the spring, she leans against the large pine tree and walks circles around it in order to remove the shedding hair.

Nafaa loves to have her belly and udder rubbed and will seek out a human and boldly present whichever part needs attention. She lets the humans know when she has had enough as well and doesn't normally leave until the itch has been thoroughly scratched.

She was purchased as a long distance prospect for Carol, but is turning out to be a horse that most of the advanced students ride. Nafaa is the first horse to volunteer to go for a ride and will load herself onto the trailer if given the chance. Being a Princess, Nafaa does not like to sweat, wear a 'tight belt' or get her feet dirty. She is also not fond of being out in the rain."
