Warmblood fillyValkyrie

We are featuring another lovely foal from Back of Beyond Farm in Huntsville, Ontario owned by Cathy Foyston and Bill Statten. Back of Beyond Farm is hosting a Natural Horsemanship Clinic August 9 and 10, 2008 with Anne Gage, a gold level certified Chris Irwin trainer. This Clinic is closed to auditors.

Hello Everyone!

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Valkyrie. I am called that because my father's name is Viva Voltaire, so I had to have a name that started with a V. Do you know what Valkyries are? Valkyries are the female goddesses in Norse mythology who choose the most heroic warriors that die in battle and carry them off to Valhalla. They are sometimes drawn as beautiful shield maidens on winged horses, armed with helmets and spears. When I was born this seemed a pretty large legacy for such a tiny filly but now that I am a few months old it suits me very well. I do look pretty special with my four white socks and teardrop star. Although I look (and sometimes act I am told) like a bit of a Princess, I really am a tomboy at heart.

I have 2 other colt friends I love to run and jump with (you might already have met them as they were featured as foals of the week earlier this month). Their names are Caberet and Wicket. I love playing this hide and seek game with them around the run in shed. They both think they are pretty special fast boys but I can outrun and out jump them any day. ValkyrieI have this incredible move where I spring straight up into the air with all four feet off the ground and spin in a circle. Wicket and Caberet try to do it too but they just lack my talent. Sometimes I get so caught up in playing with my friends that I get my white socks dirty. Then Mother gives me this look and I know I have to settle down and graze like a good little lady should, well, for a little while anyway.

Valkyrie (the Princess)

Valkyrie is a chestnut Canadian Warmblood Filly by Viva Voltaire out of Danika (Hanovarian/Thorougbred). She was born at the Back of Beyond Farm in Huntsville on June 5, 2008 and will be an outstanding hunter/ jumper with her competitive spirit and athletic ability.

Congratulations to Valkyrie for being our July 28th, 2008 Horse of the Week!
