Bay Icelandic gelding, Bunni

Bunni

Bunni is a 13.3 hh Icelandic horse and is owned by Norma Wilson of Orillia, Ontario, Canada since Dec. 1, 2005. His registered Name is Uni Fra Gimli and he is a gelding. He was born on June 9, 1995 and is now boarded at Lonesome Acres of Oro Medonte.

Bunni is a gaited horse and a pleasure to ride. He is well trained and very willing when asked to do something new. He stands still when being groomed, even without being tied. He will go anywhere on the trail. Also, he'll lead or go in the middle or at the end of the horses on a trail ride. Bunni has also been in amateur musical rides at Lonesome Acres and is used for riding lessons for all ages of kids. Other adults have ridden him too.

Bunni is an easy keeper and, of course, loves his food, like most horses. He gets grass, hay and carrots. He gets a very shaggy coat in the winter and stays outside all the time with a shelter. The owner rides him western style with a western-Australian saddle, but others ride him in English gear. Bunni is loved dearly by his owner and others who have handled and ridden him. Norma was 63 years old when she purchased Bunni, and says that he is the best horse she has ever owned. She's wanted a horse like this all her life.

Congratulations to Bunni for being our August 7, 2011 "Horse of the Week".
